Well, we’ve got the date. Apple’s Vision Pro will launch on February 2nd, with pre-orders starting January 19th.

In anticipation of this new chapter of AR/VR/new version of reality, there’s been no shortage of AR tools and devices at CES, which is in full swing this week.

And with CES going on, this issue is going to be one big roundup of the most interesting computer and video related tech we found (no smart mops or talking robots, though this instant ice cream machine looks pretty cool for the edit suite).

Computer Graphics & Accessories

NVIDIA announced a new batch of Lovelace generation graphics cards: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super

JFcreate showed off Thunderbolt 5 Dock, the new iteration of the USB-alternative Thunderbolt interface

Hyper also has a Thunderbolt 5 dock

Ugreen announced its own Intel-powered NAS

Targus Ergo Flip Mouse's ambidextrous design can be used right or left handed

LaCie has a new palm-sized Rugged Mini SSD with sizes up to 4TB

Displays

Samsung’s transparent MIicroLED display has been making the social media rounds, but LG also announced their own transparent OLED TV

It’s not just motion smoothing we need to worry about - AI upscaling is coming to consumer TVs. Samsung 8K QLED TVs are using AI to upscale SD videos to 8K. And LG’s G4 and M4 OLED TVs will have an Alpha 11 processor which can use AI to enhance clarity, color, and sharpness.

Solos AirGo 3 glasses have ChatGPT built in

Sony has their own VR headset coming using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, along with a system for creating 3D content
