Pixotope Enables Remote Virtual Production for NEP
Pixotope, a leading software platform for real-time virtual production solutions, has enabled remote camera tracking for NEP The Netherlands in their coverage of the inaugural all-electric speedboat race, the E1 Series. This groundbreaking collaboration allowed NEP to run the production remotely from their studio in Hilversum, Netherlands, while the camera tracking was deployed on-site in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Behind the Scenes
Pixotope camera tracking solutions allowed NEP to significantly reduce their on-site crew and equipment, cutting down travel and logistical expenses while promoting environmental sustainability.
The streamlined workflow provided greater agility in addressing last-minute changes or technical challenges, ensuring a seamless broadcast.
Daan Zeestraten, Manager of Graphics Operations at NEP The Netherlands, praised the collaboration, saying, "Their camera tracking solutions allowed us to harness the full potential of remote production, resulting in substantial reductions in on-site crew and equipment."
The Breakdown
Pixotope addresses remote workflow challenges typically involved in virtual production, such as the need for on-site equipment and technicians, camera tracking complexities, and latency issues.
By enabling remote virtual production workflows, Pixotope is making immersive experiences in live broadcasting more accessible and cost-effective.
Javier Reyes, Technical Product Manager at Pixotope, states, "Instead of rigorous and resource-intensive on-location setups, our customers can now minimize their on-site footprint while increasing flexibility and efficiency."
VP Land also caught up with Pixotope’s David Dowling at this year's NAB Show to discuss their latest innovations in virtual production.
Final Take
The successful collaboration between Pixotope and NEP The Netherlands showcases the potential of remote virtual production in the broadcast industry. By leveraging innovative technologies and streamlined workflows, broadcasters can create high-quality, immersive content while reducing costs and increasing flexibility.
As remote virtual production becomes more accessible, it is set to revolutionize the way live events are covered, enabling broadcasters to stay competitive in an ever-evolving industry.
